Installation Instructions: NOTE: If you have any previous versions of RAM Estimator on your computer (this does not include the previous Microsoft Excel versions), remove the program by going to the 'Control Panel' and using 'Add or Remove Programs'. Download the zipped file, RAM Estimator.zip from the AISC website, choose 'Save' and select a location on your computer. Locate the file called RAM Estimator.zip and unzip the contents to a temporary file. Locate the file Estimator_V3_2.msi in the temporary file and double click it to run the installation. The setup program should begin. Follow the instructions to install the program. By default the program is installed in \\Program File\SteelTools\Estimator_V3_2. Double click the RAM_Estimator_V3.exe file to run the program. You can create a shortcut for the program by right clicking and selecting 'Create Shortcut' Two components are required to install and run RAM Estimator, Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package (x86) and Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 SP1. The installation program will notify you if these componenets are not present on your system and guide you to the web to find the components. Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package (x86) can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A8F5654F-088E-40B2-BBDB-A83353618B38&displaylang=en (Version 1.1 can be installed on a computer that already has Version 2.0. Both programs will operate independently) Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 SP1 can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=78cac895-efc2-4f8e-a9e0-3a1afbd5922e&displaylang=en DO NOT run RAM Estimator with RAM Structural System Open. The Export to Excel functionaility will only work with Excel 2003 or later. If you are unable to install the program or have questions on its use, please contact AISC's Steel Solutions Center at solutions@aisc.org Steel Items that are not included in the RAM Estimator Version 3.2 analysis are: Single Angles, Tees, Round Bars, and Flat Bars. Changes since Version 3.0: Version 3 would crash if there was a floor type defined but not used on any story in teh model. Version 3.2 no longer crashes. Floor areas for floors with skewed slab perimeters were not reported correctly in Version 3. This has been corrected in Version 3.2. Can now remove all groups in teh group information dialog box. Version 3.2 lists cost items by the name given by the user, not the item that the cost applied to as in Version 3.0.
